Branchburg, N.J. – Two construction workers were injured Thursday night when a fire erupted at a natural gas facility.
The workers were welding part of a nonactive pipe at the compressor station at the time of the explosion. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Both workers were sent to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The fire also caused minor injuries to about 13 other people.
Mayor Jim Leonard of Branchburg will be in touch with the federal agency in charge about taking the steps to prevent a NJ construction accident like this in the future.
