A man who lost control of his car and caused a two-car crash on I-I95 on January 12 died at the scene, causing one additional injury, State Police say.
Police identified 27-year-old Carl Henninger of Cranbury at the scene of the accident. Officials believe that Henninger lost control of his vehicle while traveling eastbound on I-195 through Jackson. He crossed the center median and struck a Buick traveling in the opposite direction shortly before 10:50 a.m.
After striking the oncoming vehicle, Carl Henninger was thrown from his Chevy Lumina and pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown whether he had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
State Police later identified the woman driving the westbound Buick Century as 22-year-old Jennifer Balka of Wall Township. Balka was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center following the accident for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police have said that Balka, who was released from the hospital later that same day, is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities have said that the cause of the accident is still under investigation. The State Police will release more details as they become available. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is also assisting in the investigation.
