Man Killed when Motorcycle Overturns in Sussex County, New Jersey

June 6, 2012 – Sussex County, N.J. - A motorcyclist lost his life on Saturday, May 26, when his vehicle overturned and was hit by a car.
The Star-Ledger reports that the crash occurred at about 4 p.m. on Route 23. State Police said that Garry Rohlfs, 51, was travelling northbound on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he lost control of the vehicle and it went across the center line. The motorcycle then overturned and skidded in front of a Ford Fusion.
The Fusion’s driver, Brittany Vanwingerden, 21, attempted to steer her vehicle away from Rohlfs, but she was unsuccessful and ended up hitting the motorcyclist.
Rohlfs was killed in the accident. He died at the scene.
Vanwingerden was not physically injured in the crash, but she had to be treated at the scene for shock.
